Sunshine Coast City Hall
Emerging as a modern town hall shaped by a deep reverence for Country, the design reflects the Council’s ongoing guardianship of the region. Joinery elements play a central role in reinforcing this narrative, with polytec Boston Oak Woodmatt and Ligurian Walnut Woodmatt anchoring the interior palette in warmth and authenticity. These timber-look finishes echo the tones and textures of the surrounding landscape, connecting built form with natural context.
Throughout, joinery is integrated not only for function but as a tactile expression of place—supporting the experiential journey of “hiking” the mountain. Volumes shift, materials darken or lighten, and spaces open or compress, guiding movement and behaviour while enhancing the sense of orientation. From reception counters to storage and wall panelling, the joinery helps define zones, express purpose, and ground the architectural language in heritage and aspiration.
