An Interview With Hawkfine – Winner of Design Awards 2021

An Interview With Hawkfine – Winner of Design Awards 2021
polytec’s biennial Design Awards are back bigger and better than ever for 2023, with the 31st May deadline for entries fast approaching.

We thought we would inspire you to enter, if you haven’t already, by sharing with you, an insight into Hawkfine, winner of the Professional Award in Victoria for 2021.

Proudly Australian-owned and operated, this 3rd generation family-run business has a history dating back to 1972. They’ve shifted from a bespoke furniture manufacturer to now partnering with leading builders throughout Melbourne, manufacturing joinery from their warehouse, and creating the wow factor within their client’s projects.

Hawkfine, in conjunction with Warren & Mahoney and Lowe Living, entered the Design Awards in 2021 with their Sera Brighton project, which featured polytec’s Florentine Walnut Woodmatt throughout. They went in with no expectations and ended up being awarded the polytec Professional Award for Victoria and found this experience an “incredibly exciting moment” and having their work acknowledged by a team of professionals “was a true highlight”.

Why did you enter the polytec Design Awards 2021?

“At Hawkfine, we take great pride in our exceptional team of talented craftsmen and women. We were thrilled to have had the opportunity to showcase their skills and expertise to the rest of the country with our submission. We relish every chance we get to work alongside the Lowe Living team on their projects, and this project was no exception. The exquisite design was a testament to the creative vision of everyone involved, and we were thrilled to see it come to life as something truly special.”

What did it mean to you to win the Professional Award?

“When we received the phone call from our sales representative informing us of our win, it was a moment of great pride and joy (and shock). The award served as validation of our commitment to excellence and the remarkable talents of our exceptional team.”

Have you seen any changes within your business since you won the Professional Award in 2021?

“We saw a remarkable impact on our business regarding trust and credibility for our brand. Our social media presence received an instant boost, with a significant increase in our Instagram followers. This was further amplified when polytec shared an image of our award-winning kitchen, which generated an incredible level of engagement and sparked numerous inquiries from interested parties about the design and polytec products used.”

You were also featured in the polytec trendjournal. How did this make you feel?

“So incredibly proud,” Hawkfine explained. The polytec trendjournal has been launching around Australia and several businesses that entered the Design Awards were featured, including Hawkfine. “We were beyond thrilled to see our work in print with other projects of such high calibre from around Australia.”

Would you recommend other businesses submit their projects for 2023?

“Without a doubt, we would strongly recommend other businesses to submit their projects for the 2023 polytec Design Awards. The awards represent an incredible opportunity to showcase your organisation’s exceptional talents and highlight the outstanding work of your team. The submission process is free, straightforward and provides an excellent platform to share your ideas and designs with a wider audience. As a business, we found the entire experience to be immensely rewarding, and we believe that the awards can provide valuable exposure and recognition for any company that takes part. We look forward to seeing the amazing projects that will be submitted for 2023.”

Submissions are now open for the polytec Design Awards 2023 and close May 31st. The polytec Design Awards celebrates interior design excellence, not only giving businesses a chance to win amazing awards but also an opportunity for exposure and recognition amongst the best in Australia.

For the first time ever, the national winner will be awarded the polytec ByDesign Award, and subsequently will have the opportunity to be featured on series 7 of Australia ByDesign Architecture. Airing on Network 10, Australia ByDesign Architecture is a highly successful series that uncovers outstanding projects in Australian architectural design.

There is also an opportunity to win The People’s Choice Award, voted by your peers. Voting for the People’s Choice Award will open 1st July 2023.

Your project can be submitted through the polytec Design Award website. polytec has received lots of amazing entries and looks forward to receiving many more.
