polytec has just expanded its Multi-Piece Door Range with the new Summit Door Design.
Summit is a 21mm thick, five-piece cabinetry door featuring a slim 20mm mitred frame, interchangeable 16mm centre panel and a soft radiused internal profile. Designed and manufactured in Australia, Summit offers a new option for kitchen cabinet doors, cupboard doors and other cabinetry applications where a slim framed profile is desired.

What is the Summit Door Design?
Summit is a contemporary multi-piece door constructed from five individual components.
The door combines a slim mitred frame with a 16mm centre insert panel. The overall door is 21mm thick, with a 20mm-wide frame that creates narrow proportions around the centre panel. Summit establishes its identity where the frame transitions into the centre panel.

Rather than a sharp internal edge, Summit features a soft radiused internal profile. This detail creates a gentler transition between the frame and insert while maintaining the defined proportions of a framed cabinetry door.
It suits those looking for a contemporary alternative to traditional wider frame-and-panel or Shaker-style kitchen cabinet doors.
Why has Summit been introduced?
Summit expands the design choice available within the polytec Multi-Piece Door Range.
Rather than introducing an entirely different construction system, Summit builds on the established construction and manufacturing process of Vista. It shares Vista's 21mm overall thickness, slim 20mm frame and interchangeable 16mm centre panel.
The difference is deliberately subtle. Vista uses a square 90-degree internal edge, creating a sharp transition between its frame and centre panel. Summit replaces this detail with a subtle internal radius.

By introducing another profile within the same construction approach, polytec can offer two distinct cabinet door designs with closely related proportions. Designers, specifiers, cabinet makers and homeowners can select the internal profile that best suits the intended cabinetry design.
How is the Summit cabinetry door constructed?
Summit is a 21mm thick, five-piece door with a precisely mitred frame surrounding a 16mm centre insert panel. The centre insert is manufactured from 16mm MDF MR E0, allowing compatibility with selected colours from the extensive polytec 16mm decorative range.

Summit is made-to-order and designed and manufactured in Australia. It is suitable for standard hinge applications and can be integrated into new and existing cabinetry.
The made-to-order sizing extends from a minimum of 120mm high by 147mm wide to a maximum of 2900mm high by 1200mm wide, supporting applications across kitchen cabinetry, cupboards, wardrobes and custom joinery.
Can Summit be used for residential and commercial applications?
Yes. Summit can be used across residential and commercial joinery applications, making it an option for kitchen cabinet doors as well as Bathroom cabinetry, Wardrobes and other custom cabinetry applications such as Wall Linings.
Its slim 20mm frame provides an alternative for projects where the character of a framed kitchen cupboard door is wanted without the wider proportions commonly associated with traditional frame-and-panel designs.
The ability to select the frame and insert independently also opens up different approaches to kitchen cabinetry design.

Can the Summit frame and centre panel be different colours?
Yes. One of the design opportunities created by Summit's multi-piece construction is the ability to explore matching or contrasting frame and insert combinations.
The Summit 20mm frame is available in eight Woodmatt finishes:
Selecting the same finish and colour for the frame and insert allows the profile itself to become the focus. Alternatively, contrasting the frame and centre panel can emphasise the multi-piece construction and highlight the slim frame. The selected insert colour also carries through to the reverse side of the cabinet door. Batten Oak is the exception, with a Boston Oak rear backing.
What is the difference between Summit and Vista cabinet doors?
The key difference between Summit and Vista is the internal frame profile.
Vista has a square 90-degree internal edge. This creates crisp definition where the slim frame meets the centre panel. Summit has a soft radiused internal edge. The radius creates a more gradual transition from the frame into the centre panel.
Beyond this profile detail, the two doors have a great deal in common. Summit shares Vista's proven construction, manufacturing process and interchangeable 16mm centre panel. Both are 21mm thick and feature slim 20mm mitred frames.

This means the choice between Summit and Vista is not about one cabinet door replacing the other. It provides a choice between two different expressions of the slim-frame, multi-piece cabinetry door.
- Vista: square internal edge for sharper definition
- Summit: soft radiused internal edge for a gentler transition between frame and insert.
Summit, Vista and the Multi-Piece Door Range
Summit's introduction adds another option to the polytec Multi-Piece Door Range without changing what makes Vista distinctive.
Both cabinet door designs use the same underlying construction principles. Both feature slim 20mm mitred frames around interchangeable 16mm centre panels. And both can be used to explore matching and contrasting colour combinations.
The distinction comes down to one carefully considered profile detail. Vista is square. Summit is softly radiused.
