polytec are striving to reduce carbon emissions by installing solar panels throughout all sites nationwide. Upon completion, the portfolio of projects listed below will yield the following environmental benefits:
  • Power rating of portfolio: 11.6MW 
  • Renewable energy generated: 11,668 MWh per year 
  • CO2 emissions avoided: 10,500,801 kg per year 
  • Tonnes of coal equivalent: 4,447 per year 
  • Distance driven equivalent: 56,974,350 km per year 
  • Equivalent trees planted: 73,501 per year 
  • Will produce enough energy to power 1759 homes per year

Charmhaven door manufacturing facility
System Size: 1.3 MW, 4700 Panels 



Energy Generated: Will produce 1660 MWh per year 
Greenhouse gas reduction is equivalent to 1,576,800 kg of CO2 per year

  • Offsets 665 tonnes of coal in electricity generation per year
  • The equivalent of driving an average car 8.5 million km per year
  • Equal to planting 11,037 trees per year

This will provide approximately 35% of the site’s energy requirement.

Charmhaven is accredited as a renewable energy power station - this is the largest solar system on the Central Coast NSW and the only accredited solar power station on the Central Coast.

Head Office – Wella Way Somersby
System Size: 730 kW, 2700 Panels

Energy Generated: Will produce 1065 MWh per year 
Greenhouse gas reduction is equivalent to 959,220 kg of CO2 per year

  • Offsets 405 tonnes of coal in electricity generation per year
  • The equivalent of driving an average car 5.2 million km per year
  • Equal to planting 6714 trees per year

This will provide approximately 90% of the site's energy requirement.

Somersby board facility
System Size: 2.5 MW, 9259 Panels 

Energy Generated: Will produce 3,193 MWh per year 
Greenhouse gas reduction is equivalent to 2,873,700 kg of CO2 per year

  • Offsets 1094 tonnes of coal in electricity generation per year
  • The equivalent of driving an average car 15.6 million km per year
  • Equal to planting 20,115 trees per year

This will provide approximately 25% of the site's energy requirement.

Oberon MDF and Particleboard Facilty
System Size: 4 MW, 14,814 Panels 

Energy Generated: Will produce 5,110 MWh per year 
Greenhouse gas reduction is equivalent to 4,599,000 kg of CO2 per year

  • Offsets 1946 tonnes of coal in electricity generation per year
  • The equivalent of driving an average car 25 million km per year
  • Equal to planting 32,193 trees per year

This will provide approximately 6% of the site's energy requirement.

Albury branch
System Size: 29.7 kW, 108 Panels 

Energy Generated: Will produce 37.9 MWh per year 
Greenhouse gas reduction is equivalent to 34,110 kg of CO2 per year

  • Offsets 14 tonnes of coal in electricity generation per year
  • The equivalent of driving an average car 185,380 km per year
  • Equal to planting 238 trees per year

This will provide approximately 125% of the site's energy requirement.

Nowra Branch
System Size: 29.925 kW, 105 Panels

Energy Generated: Will produce 38.2 MWh per year 
Greenhouse gas reduction is equivalent to 34,380 kg of CO2 per year

  • Offsets 14 tonnes of coal in electricity generation per year
  • The equivalent of driving an average car 186,847 km per year
  • Equal to planting 240 trees per year

This will provide approximately 74% of the site's energy requirement.

Brisbane branch
System Size: 99.90 kW, 370 Panels

Energy Generated: Will produce 182.5 MWh per year 
Greenhouse gas reduction is equivalent to 164,250 kg of CO2 per year

  • Offsets 70 tonnes of coal in electricity generation per year
  • The equivalent of driving an average car 892,663 km per year
  • Equal to planting 1150 trees per year

This will provide approximately 45% of the site's energy requirement.

Melbourne Branch
System Size: 99.90 kW, 370 Panels

Energy Generated: Will produce 145.8 MWh per year 
Greenhouse gas reduction is equivalent to 136,323 kg of CO2 per year

  • Offsets 150 tonnes of coal in electricity generation per year
  • The equivalent of driving an average car 740,885 km per year
  • Equal to planting 954 trees per year

This will provide approximately 24% of the site's energy requirement.

Adelaide branch
System Size: 99.90 kW, 370 Panels

Energy Generated: Will produce 189.6 MWh per year 
Greenhouse gas reduction is equivalent to 81,528 kg of CO2 per year

  • Offsets 72 tonnes of coal in electricity generation per year*
  • The equivalent of driving an average car 443,086 km per year
  • Equal to planting 570 trees per year

This will provide approximately 135% of the site's energy requirement.

Canberra branch
Status: Due to be installed by June
System Size: 31.62 kW, 115 Panels

Energy Generated: Will produce 46.1 MWh per year 
Greenhouse gas reduction is equivalent to 41,490 kg of CO2 per year

  • Offsets 17 tonnes of coal in electricity generation per year
  • The equivalent of driving an average car 225,489 km per year
  • Equal to planting 290 trees per year

This will provide approximately 76% of the site's energy requirement.
