Create a feature using polytec within your commercial spaces
We all know that first impressions count, particularly within a commercial space.

It can be crucial for making an impression with your guests and customers, a vital step to setting yourself apart from the crowd. It’s a competitive market out there, and you want your customers to not only remember their experience, but also return for another visit. For a bar and restaurant, this is even more important. The details of Bar Urbane, an upscale cocktail bar in the heart of Tasmania, created a brand and experience for their clientele. Let’s look at how the designer, Prime Design, achieved this remarkable project.

The design of Bar Urbane was heavily influenced by the brand’s identity and goals. The details are what make it truly unique. The expert team at Prime Design offer out-of-the-box ideas. Rather than just looking at polytec and seeing the obvious, Prime Design saw ways to use polytec products to create distinct elements within this commercial project.

The clients’ vision was to introduce a unique, exclusive, and sophisticated establishment in Launceston, Tasmania. The key feelings for the brief were moody, elegant, quiet, and exclusive. Prime Design drew inspiration from the historical “speakeasy” – secret establishments emerging in 1920 to 1933, exuding a moody, jazz ambience, whilst also drawing inspiration from the distinct and glamorous Art Deco interior style, which correlated well with Bar Urbane. The glamour of the space was created using layering of luxe elements.

Using polytec in a striking way, Prime Design were able to establish a clear customer experience for Bar Urbane. “I knew I could achieve the desired look with the numerous product applications available with polytec,” says Tahleah Hoyle, Interior Designer at Prime Design. “polytec is our go-to choice for joinery. It’s a brand I know, and trust, and I feel confident specifying and recommending it to my clients.”

Imagine entering Bar Urbane, the bold colours will delight your senses. When finding a seat, you’re presented with many options. But your eye can’t go past the curved feature seating in Bottega Oak Woodmatt laminate. Using the same material, you will also see curved panelling adorned with battens made from Bottega Oak decorative board, for extra impact, creating texture and adding to the mood of the experience.

As you’re looking around the room, the walls are layered with polytec Thermolaminated Ascot profile in Bottega Oak Woodmatt, giving a 3D effect to the vertical surfaces. “We could have chosen paint for the walls,” Tahleah from Prime Design explains. “But the Thermolaminated panelling brings a warmth and depth to the space that paint just can’t achieve.” You will be delighted by the polytec Bronze Gold Leaf Matt trim, creating highlights, capturing, and reflecting the light on different angles.

When you approach the bar, your attention will be drawn to the striking Thermolaminated Cove 25 profile in Botanic Smooth, creating a bold, yet cohesive look. Behind the bar, you’re presented with a captivating preparation and storage space: a Thermolaminated Ascot profile in Bottega Oak Woodmatt, with the eye-catching tall cabinets being inserted with Fluted Glass, and a back 21mm Tightform benchtop in Catalina Marble Matera finish. The added brushed brass hardware complements the brass gold features throughout the room.

All these design elements contribute to the feeling of the bar as a whole: moody, indulgent, and luxurious. You know you’ve entered a truly unique and extraordinary sanctuary when visiting Bar Urbane, giving an overwhelmingly positive finish. You can create eye-catching joinery within your spaces too.
